Marie-Helene Ducruet
Born in the French Alps, as a child I became captivated by drawing when watching my Swedish mother sketching feminine figures. I pursued my inherited talent, graduating Fine Arts School, Lyon and embarking on a career in graphic design in Paris and New York. While enjoying the work, I longed for the sensual act of pure sketching, drawing and painting so I studied fashion illustration at the Parson School of Design in New York.
On returning to Paris in 2003 I received my first commission from French magazine 'Votre Beaute'. Since then my work has been published in many other fashion, beauty and health magazines including 'Jeune et Jolie', 'Top Sante' and 'Femina'.
Some of my more recent projects include a 2 year collaboration with cosmetic brand, Neutrogen, illustrating their press folders. For Parisian department store, Le Printemps, I was commissioned to create an exhibition in situ of their 2007 fashion trends.
I like my work to be sexy, fresh, glamorous, vivacious, sensitive and energetic. When sketching models I am particularly aware of their body attitudes, their twisting, moving, insolent bodies, always charming and a little sexy.
