Information for Clients

Commissioning An Illustration

When an illustration is commissioned through us, you will receive an ‘Illustration Agreement’ based on the details of your brief.
This agreement will include an itemised quote, required usage rights, due dates, reference material provided with the brief, image dimensions and the artist’s technique and medium. If all the information in the agreement is appropriate, we then request the client returns a purchase order or a signed copy of the agreement as confirmation. This will start of the creative process.

The Creative Process

Based on the agreed illustration brief, initially the artist will create a ‘pencil rough’ of the image for client approval or for further directions and adjustments.
Once the ‘final rough’ is approved, the artist will proceed with the ‘rendering’ of the image to completion taking into consideration any additional directions from the client. The completed image is then submitted to the client for final approval. This process is a general guide and can vary depending on the complexity and size of the project.

Additional Costs

Author’s corrections, delivery, scanning, model and reference fees are charged additionally. Author’s corrections are changes made by the client during or after the creative process that were not part of the original brief and not agreed upon in the Illustration Agreement. We keep the client advised of these additional costs as they arise whenever possible.

Terms of Payment

On approval of the finished image, the client will receive an invoice from The Overall Picture. Payment is required not more than 21 days from the date of the invoice unless alternative arrangements have been agreed upon by all parties.
